Rapid - best for quality chess. You have longer to think and therefore should play higher accuracy moves. This is particularly important for new players as it is how you learn.
Blitz - best for trying out new openings. You get a lot of games in a shorter period of time, so you can get a quicker feel for openings you are trying out. This is also the time format most titled players use on chess.com
Bullet - don’t play bullet. Only thing it’s useful for ur training you for time scrambles at the end of games in longer time formats. It’s chaotic, and you will not play good chess here.

Rapid - best for most people to improve overall, however only focusing on rapid will lead to your speed chess lagging behind.
Blitz - This is how a small portion of chess players find improvement and is probably the closest to your OTB rating. However for most people this is not gonna be the best for improvement.
Bullet - haha big fast
