There's more players in the blitz pool and it's a tougher pool in general. Also, it's expected of most amateurs to have a higher rapid rating than blitz because you have more time to think.

I want to ask something about ratings. My current rating in rapid is around 1700, but in blitz, it's only 1350. I looked at the stats of other players and didn’t see such a big difference. Aren't they supposed to be roughly the same?
