Art, 2300?! Account ban?! You can guess what I'm thinking!
I see what you're saying Freditorialist, but note that your opponent is also tasked with the same time controls; you are just likely worse at slower time controls compared to your relative strength at slower time controls. I happen to be the opposite which is quite bad for OTB ratings (My rapid<blitz<bullet, and OTB is about 500 pts lower than my blitz rating here). Agree that the % is all that matters at the end of the day though. Good luck with your chess!
Now that it's been a few weeks since making 10 min games "Rapid" instead of "Blitz" I have a few observations: 1. Both my ratings have dropped as a result - The shorter the time, the worse I do (like most players) and, to play blitz games, I now must choose something shorter than 10 min which results in more blitz losses. 2. Ten min "Rapid" games are now shorter than what I used to play which resulted in more lost rapid games.
There is another effect that I think is a good thing - the difference between my blitz and rapid ratings is now smaller. I suppose ideally, they should be about the same, right?
Anyway... I look at it as a "bad news/good news joke. With the lower ratings I now play easier opponents. (I know - that can be both bad and good depending on how I respond.)
One more note: To me the rating numbers aren't as meaningful as my percentile ranks. Since I'm generally able to stay above 60% I don't feel too bad about it.
