Rating Milestones?

What would some obvious rating milestones be where the level of play improves tremendously over the last milestone? For me personally over the past year I've noticed that from 500-1750 (how much I've improved) there was a spot at 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 1600. I haven't hit another plateau yet, and am getting decently close to 1800. Higher rated players, what ratings did you struggle to get past? I want to know so I can "overstudy" (study wayyy more than seems necessary) in order to not be slowed at each plateau.

I can confirm this 800-1000-1200. Broke through 1200 for the 2nd time and on my road to 1500 then. ☺️

For me it’s 800, 1200, 1300 and 1400

Should be specific about time control, there are 2 different levels at same ratings between blitz and rapid. I play less rapid and my rating there is equal to my blitz (1600), however I have more than 60% win rate in rapid and if I just play it more I would be like 1800. So In rapid people are very weak, until 1500 its just blunders, a milestone will be at 1500 and next at 1800.

For blitz its 1000, 1300, 1500, 1700.

But again thats my point of view.

The milestones would be:
1500 mainly a matter of blunder prevention
2000 mainly a matter of tactics
2500 mainly a matter of endgames

I mean, chess isn't really like that. It's a continuum of skill.

Subjectively you might have experienced a boost when you fix a weak area, so maybe to get over 1300 for you involved tactics... but everyone is going to experience it a little differently.

If you want to improve, look at your games, and what's causing you to lose. Also study the area you're weakest in... no not openings wink.png think about the sorts of positions you don't like to play, or make you uncomfortable. That combined with the knowledge of how you're losing your games will let you know what to study.

1000 rating is milestone for me. Got it for my 51st win streak. 😉
