We are all beginners. Most of us think too highly of ourselves. Beating a 1900 in a single game indicates to me that you are likely a tad over 1400, possibly better. Beating 1900s consistently would indicate that you are yourself at least 1900.

I have a 100% winrate against 1900s in that time format so I will take on the attitude that I will reach 1900 or better in daily chess before I hit the wall and try to prove it.  Then,  when the warfare is done and it's time to evaluate and study,  I will switch into groveling self critical diet mode and try to rip things apart and build.

Believe what you want. The play of both opponents was pretty horrid. It's hard to understand how either one attained a rating over 1300.

OP.

You were rated at about 500 in January and you have gotten to 899 already. That is a big improvement! Very few players improve 399 points in six months.

Your mistake was using the word "beginner" in this forum. It triggers the nerd herd. They think that a beginner is anyone they can beat. Ignore them. To Carlsen, they are all beginners. lol

Realistically, you are a chess hobbyist now and can beat the beginners where you live in real life. Chess knowledge and playing ability is really a continuum and you are moving far along that continuum. Forget the labels, enjoy the ride, and have fun learning and improving.

I think beginner is everything below 2100 FIDE (and so does Peter Svidler).

The good old "everyone I can beat is a Patzer" in action.

I wonder what Magnus thinks of Svidler's skill.

I'm sorry not meaning to offend anyone because currently under 700 I believe but I reached 919 a few days ago but unless your on the leader board I think all this talk is moot except  for those who are suggesting training methods. If I could reach 1000 I would e happy at this point but of course then I would want to reach 1500 so and so on. also every one of us has our strong points but I think our brains are wired in such a way that were probably all going to reach a certain level and that will be as far as we will go. unless your a chess prodigy.

Of course they are. I'm a patzer, too.

Please read what I wrote a little more carefully if you want to argue.

When I was in the military, long ago, I joined the chess club on base. Probably the halcyion days of my chess playing. The first thing the club wanted was to help you improve enough to win at barracks chess. That is, be able beat the average soldier who knew how to play chess, but was mostly a patzer that knew a few opening tricks and traps.

Often they would go for those fast mating attacks that are very effective against players that barely know the rules to the game of chess.

I got my first USCF rating at Ft. Hood. It was 1160.

Any rating is good as long as you're improving. It's an up hill battle just learn from your mistakes.
