Rating System Broken?

Is there something wrong with the Chess.com rating system? How could a player gain 64 points in ONE GAME against a player rated 92 points LOWER than him?? That was with the higher rated player as Black, against me as White. His rating before the game; 1613, after the game 1677

Then, WITH WHITE!, the higher rated player gained 44 points in ONE GAME playing against me, rated 162, that's right, one-hundred, sixty-two points lower than him!! His rating before the game; 1677, after the game 1721!?

Seriously, what is going on?

Has there been problems lately?

Did you check the players' Glicko RD values?  Newer players with fewer games played have higher values, and their ratings will have bigger swings back and forth for individual games than will the ratings for players who have more games contributing to their stats.

I notice that I get a lot more points for winning after a lose streak and I get more points each time I win in a winstreak

It's just how the glicko system handles ratings when you're new, or your RD is very high due to inactivity. The player in question now has an RD of 121 which is still fairly large.

LOL my Glicko is 134, and I've been on this site for more than a year but just recently started actually playing Online Chess. It'll go down eventually I know once I start getting more involved and study more so I can be more of a challenge once I actually do play.   Cool
