I dont like the way it rates people.   I played 8 games, started with a 1231 rating.  I finished 4-4  and ended with a rating 1205,  all of the players where in the same range.  But when I won, I get like 6 points, but losing is -10 points.  I think if I beat someone 150 pts higher,  I should get more points.  I shouldnt have to double the wins by higher rated players to make up for losses to lower players.   It becomes very hard to move upward.  But, yet it is easy to move downward.  Just a thought.

It kind of depends on what exactly are your expectations are. In Live games, i know my rating will remain stable, because i longer have the desire to go beyond it. I'm comfortable. If, however, i focused...i could hit 1600+, no doubt. As far as your question is concerned; i think it's only natural to lose more points to opponents equal to, or lower than your current rating. But if you want to improve your rating, set your parameters accordingly. Filter out players 100 pts below you and play people equal or above (maybe 50-100 range). Other than that, it:s on you. Always play against higher ratef players.

My guess, is that by playing the computer and winning, is another guesstimation of your true playing ability. Lots of alternative sites are like that. I've witnessed many a player boosting their rating strictly doing this (obviously playing the same line over n over again).

(Besides, my ratings aren't what defines me...especially since im not as competitive these days. Playing's the thing

Not any rating system.)

Looking at your recent games (Note:  Because I'm a basic member, I can only see the last 30 days worth), I notice that the majority of your opponents had ratings lower than yours.  If you only win 50% of your games, your rating will drop.  I didn't find the 8-game series that you mentioned in your post, but that may be because it is more than 30 days old.
