I have a question, my son age 9 pick up chess as a hobby and seems to love the game and have a passion for it. He never played in a tournament before. So in his first tournament he won 3 out of 6 games. If would have been 4, someone cheated. 5 if he understood the touch rule. I went on some site and put his history in and his performance was a 4000 and rating NaN. What does any of this mean. I never played myself. help please

what site?

If he plays 20-25 rated USCF games, you'll know what his rating is... or you could have him play on chesskids.com and see how he compares to others in his age group.

The NaN ( Not a Number) is a website Javascript error, it is normally caused by incorrect user input or a program error.

The site would be helpful. Likely not USCF, or there was an error as stated above.

You can try this USCF calculation to see a performance of 4000 is impossible.

By the way some people who have played for years make incorrect accusations of cheating on this very forum. Someone who does not know touch move may have thought en passant was not a valid move.
