ratings matters not win loss record in chess

Ratings are useless to the great majority of chess players. Ratings are only important for chess professionals who need that on their resumes in order to impress (and get hired) to teach a few kids. And of course for professionals who live off their tournament payouts, sometimes they even want lower ratings : )
Otherwise, ratings are used to find appropriate opponents, and it truly doesn't matter that it is except as a quick comparison of player strength.
If you play golf... I tell my son that chess is like golf. You are really just competing against yourself (you aren't a pro and just enjoy it for fun). Whether you blunder or see a tactical opportunity is the your own play; win or lose. The opponent is the golf course.
