Hey guys

So I've been wondering something for a while. I often see people around the forums that have like 2000+ ratings in online chess. The ratings in blitz are fairly high as well. However, I rarely see anyone 1800+ for Live Standard. So my question is, what exactly is going on and why are the ratings for blitz and online so high while standard is so low.

I also think the system followed is faulty in LIVE-STANDARD.When u defeat a 200 rating above player then it gives +10 .On d contrary when u defeat a 200 rating below player u get a +5.Now u expect more pont increments for defeating a stronger player.

I can't speak to the specifics of the ratings here on blitz, live standard, and online.  But I do know you should keep in mind:

Ratings are only comparable within their own pool of players.  They cannot be compared to a different rating pool.

In other words, it makes no sense to say "the ratings for blitz and online are high" compared to the standard ratings which are "so low".  They are not comparable.
