Recent Lag/Disconnection Problem

Any of you guys experiencing this lately? Me and my brother just recently experienced this kind of issue with our live tournaments. I know Philippines doesn't have the best internet connection but a lot of the players playing our live tournament today got kicked out of the game and was not able to join back Is this an isolated issue? We will also be having a major tournament coming up this May 16 and we fear that if this issue would persist it would greatly affect our online chess community in a negative way.

Hope some admins or members can shed light on this wink.png

Chess.com is having server issues owed to very high usage levels.

I read that internet in the Philippines is among the slowest in the world.

The two do not make a good combination.

Based on Speedtest Global Index, the Philippines ranked 116th in the world for mobile speed and 104th for fixed-line internet during March 2020.

Average mobile and fixed broadband speeds in the Philippines still fall below the global average.

In March 2020, the country’s average mobile internet download speed of 14.24 megabits per second (Mbps) was far below the global average of 26.12 Mbps.

Average download speed of 23.80 Mbps for fixed line internet was also slower than the global average of 57.91 Mbps.

So basically having slow internet connection would be a recipe for disaster i.e getting kicked out of the live tournament? Wouldn't it be less punishing if instead of getting kicked out of the tournament, you will instead incur a loss of that game? And the worst thing is, you are sitting there thinking your opponent is 'AFK' when in fact it was you the whole time getting disconnected and not getting any message prompts from it.

Is this basically how the server responds to lags/delay and treat players as 'AFKs"?  Ins't there a reconnection procedure for unavoidable events such as this when you get kicked out of the live tournament?

So if there's no fixed to this, we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best?

I apologize for all the questions. We just want to provide a good tournament to our community and a lot is on the line. We need some answers so that at the very least we can provide our participants with transparency and justifiable actions when the tournament pushes through.
