Having thought it over I do agree the new puzzle rating sounds more appropriate. The only thing is people might have been forewarned via emails. Having said that, if things continue to go on as is now, and not another sudden major shift occurs, although it might take a bit for some players to adapt to, there should be little to worry about.
Just keep playing and/or solving puzzles and over time the balance will be there.
