Reluctant to mention chess in social media

I can't bring myself to add chess related links to my FB account. Part of me wants to do it, but the other part is sort of ..... ashamed, afraid? I guess I just want to keep this part of my life more private than anything else.

It's rare to have friends that are interested in everything you're interested in. Most people have some interest or hobby that they must enjoy alone. It's not such a bad thing Tongue Out

I did it once and was made fun of.

People are prejudiced against chess players, especially crazy chess playas.

Don't do it!

Just lift, brah. Get your bench higher than your chess rating and no one will make fun of you. It worked for Bane

Crazychessplaya

My bench is already higher than my EFC rating. Not much to brag about.

I sometimes feel the same way, but if you want chess to become more popular you have to promote it!

Why would you be ashamed of chess?

The game of chess no longer seems to attract the general public; its golden age was in the 1880-1975 timeframe in my opinion. On social media, people are more likely to favor Clash of Clans, Call of Duty, or even poker over chess. Look at the sponsors. Gone are the days when large corporations would sponsor chess events.

Nowadays it's just tiny companies like Tata Steel.

Going through life worried about what other people think of you is something i've never understood. A lot of people think I'm crazy for having thousands invested in my magic the gathering collection. Do I give a F what they think? Nope.

People will think you're cool.Just post a couple of pictures. Watch and see. ;p
