Rematch question
If I play Black and play well until a blunder and resign... I think a chance to play White against the same person is a reasonable request.
I usually accept rematches without hesitation--- unless I was able to win 3 in a row against the same person.
I probably need to clarify my situation...
I have the Black pieces and for 25-30 moves the position is good for me or even... then I foolishly drop my queen like only a blind dummy can... so I figure "I trashed that game by blundering my queen--- let me try White this time so I can show that I'm a decent player and I can push hard for the win since I have White this time".
If no rematch is granted or the offer is not even acknowledged... then that seems kind of strange to me. If the situation was reversed, i would gladly grant a rematch request.
I'm not gonna sweat it in the future-- I just thought it was good manners to accept the rematch request. But that's just me.![]()
Entirely up to you to accept or decline a rematch, you can always play later; no stigma attached or breach of any supposed etiquette, and if you think you might lose before you start just delay it longer.![]()
Is it considered bad form to decline a request for a rematch?
