Remove the stalemate

Ok…. I know this is a somewhat random topic, but in my opinion stalemate should be removed from chess. Of course, I don’t expect that to happen considering it has been part of the game for hundreds of years now, but to me, stalemate is honestly the one part of chess that has never been fair in my opinion. Someone who is down to a king in material shouldn’t have any sort of chance to draw to begin with. If your king gets cornered without a move, then in my humble opinion, it should be considered a checkmate. Think about it. The whole game of chess is based off of pieces in a war. If the king fighting in a war got trapped and had no escape by two soldiers (bishops, knights, etc) then he would either surrender or be killed. It wouldn’t just end in a peace treaty. And yes, I understand that if it is a king vs king and queen endgame then that should be converted to a win and if it isn’t then it’s probably fair that the player with the queen lost. But when it comes to a king vs king pawn endgame, that shouldn’t end in a near automatic draw. But again, that is just my opinion. I wanted to create this forum to see if anyone else has an opinion on this topic, because I may be the only person who actually thinks this. Comment your opinions!

Stalemates are great for the game. It provides an incentive for people to finish to the very end. Although you are unable to gain chess.com rating points, you can avoid losing chess.com rating points. stop advocating for suicide. Play to the end. Let em fight with what ever they have.

Stalemate is there for a reason. As a matter of fact, there was the same member who was complaining about the stalemate being removed from chess. In other words Stalemate is legal no matter how much you hate it. It's part of the rules.

Stalemate shouldn't be removed. If the player with the advantage messes up they do deserve the draw.

I have to disagree, because it will mess up checkmating patterns

Stalemate Allows for really good comebacks, So even if a player is losing, They can sometimes figure out a tactic and draw the game, it also males the other player more careful.

So yeah,i believe it should be legal.

Stalemate isn't going anywhere just because you hate it so much. Rules are there for a reason you know. LOL! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

When I’m down to just a king I always try to get stalemate. I never resign.

Remove stalemate and there’s no incentive for the player with the advantage to try and win the game “properly”. Stalemating is extremely frustrating when you have the winning position, but it does work both ways.
