I think it the wording on the button changes from 'Offer Draw' to 'Claim Draw' but I might be wrong. Hopefully someone can confirm.
Repeat of position

Nope, there isn't any notification. This is because it's not an automatic draw. This draw must be claimed by one of the players. To claim this type of draw, when the position is repeated for a third time, click the "Offer Draw" button (the text will not change).

What if your opponent does not accept the draw after the position is repeated a third time?
They do not get a choice to accept, as soon as you click on it the game is drawn.

didn't work for me. repeated position means the board looks exactly the same, correct? so on the third time that the position is exactly the same I'm supposed to be able to claim the draw, right? if so, it didn't work

A link to the game may be useful. For the exact rule see here. You do not have option a here just option b.

The game is drawn upon a correct claim by the player having the move, when the same position, for at least the third time (not necessarily by a repetition of moves): |
|
a. |
is about to appear, if he first writes his move on his scoresheet and declares to the arbiter his intention to make this move, or |
|
b. |
has just appeared, and the player claiming the draw has the move. |
|
|
Positions as in (a) and (b) areconsidered the same, if the same player has the move, pieces of the same kind and colour occupy the same squares, and the possible moves of all the pieces of both players are the same. |

I am almost certain that the text does change, to CLAIM DRAW...?

It would probably help if the help topic was corrected to indicate there is an "Offer Draw" that cannot be refused.
Currently creating confusion. "When you CAN claim a draw (3x repetition, or 50 moves with no captures or pawn moves, etc) then the OFFER DRAW button should turn into a CLAIM DRAW button. "
It seems reasonable not to indicate the draw with a changed button, since it is up to the players to recognize the draw situation.

I agree, but then you could get a theoretical situation where a player does not recognize that the repetition (or 50 move rule) has occurred, and attempts to OFFER a draw. There should be a separate mechanism for offering and claiming.
Somehow, the claim mechanism would have to become available only if it is possible to claim, but there should be no visible indication that such a claim is now possible.
I have a feeling I'm not making myself very clear, but I don't know how to state it better.

Your making it clear, i understand what you're trying to say. :P

I just had a game where the 3-fold repetition occurred and, I can inform folks, that - immediately after I made my move to cause the third repeat, my "Offer Draw" button did, indeed, change to "Claim Draw". When I clicked this, the game was "Drawn by Repetition" (no chance for the opponent to refuse).
In online turn-based chess here, is there some flag or notification when a position is repeated the third time (which would result in a draw)?
