Like I said, it might mean that in some cases. I just think it's best to let the loser request a rematch.
Request Rematch After Winning

Because even if they are laughing, they're 100 miles away and you can't see or hear them
But they might type 'jajajajaja' or 'lolololol' in the chat. I sense from reading the almost limitless rematch related threads that some players may find this very hurtful.

I'm not offended when my opponent requests a rematch after winning. It just seems to be in poor taste and I was wondering if others might agree. I think the best policy is to let the loser request a rematch if he wants one.

Look, this has been debated in the forums a bunch and it should be a non issue. The majority of people hit rematch because they want to play another game. They're not out to hurt your feelers.

The colors are automatically reversed in a rematch game. I don't think you can request a rematch and keep the same color. I brought up this topic because I was curious about others' opinions regarding chess etiquette -- not because my feelings are hurt when the winner requests a rematch. Lighten up, people!

Good discussion. lf I win with White then I always request a rematch so that they can try to get their revenge with the White pieces. That just seems like basic fairness to me and I've always assumed that that was what everyone did. I never realised that some people would consider that as me being rude.

You make a good point, Heather. Thanks for your input, folks. Based on your comments, I've come to think there's nothing inappropriate about it. Most of the time it's probably someone like Heather who just wants to give a bloke another shot (said in my best British accent).

Maybe in daily chess but in live chess, I don't believe there is a way to request a rematch after a game and keep the same color. When you request a rematch and it is accepted, you'll play the second game with the opposite color.

Yes your opinion resonates with mine.I have had players considerably higher rated than mine trying to rematch me when i lose to them. They can handle my game and they know it very well. I feel intimidated but take a shot anyway and try my luck. But i seriously think chess.com needs to provide a complete 'block' option for a rematch.I feel annoyed sometimes because they request over and over again.Even if i set a block to new challenges they can try a rematch option, what the hell chess.com!!

It is just me or do others believe that it's in bad taste to request a rematch after winning? Requesting a rematch after losing basically says, "You beat me but I want another chance to beat you." Nothing wrong with that. But what does requesting a rematch after winning say? Maybe it means, "You're an easy out so I want to beat you again." Of course it could also mean, "That was a tough game so I'd like to play you again." However, I think it's best to let the loser request a rematch instead of giving him the impression you're rubbing it in. Looking forward to reading others' perspectives.
chess is a gentle game (for me), can't agree more for your opinion.
sadly many players don't know the meaning of winning or loosing in chess.

My next topic will be "Players who offer draws in hopelessly lost positions." See you there. ;-)
Please don't make another, just bump an old one which was done to the death.

I was playing someone near my level (maybe a little lower) and they blundered and lost game, I felt bad as they nearly had me so I offered a re-match. I think thats fair... But usually I don't bother win or lose.
