resign

Be thankful you have an opportunity to train your finishing skills. Your opponent has the opportunity to test his resourcefulness as well. Win/win.

I don't resign in blitz as a mouse slip can turn the tables. Some people are clutch and it is no fun to play it out, but at the same time if I am playing well and have a great game sometimes I want to get the checkmate, so am greatful for those who play on. I have probably gained 100 of the last 200 rating points by not resigning. Also, did you see Chessbrah building habits the other day? 1500 had K+Q vs K and blundered the Q with a mouse slip. Straight up draw. They resigned before the recapture. People resign before you can even see the blunder it is insane. I have played k+3p vs k and got stalemate. Potential no Elo loss is better than certain Elo loss every day of the week. It also helps you become creative with threats and counter play in difficult positions. I have managed to give checkmate in lost positions, so why resign? You win some, draw some lose some. A resignation you always lose.

I get where you’re coming from, but personally, I don’t resign for a couple of reasons. First, I think playing out a completely lost position is actually a great way to train under pressure. When I'm on the back foot, I often find myself pulling off some of my sharpest tactics just to stay in the game—it pushes me to think creatively and fight harder.
Also, mistakes happen, even at high levels. Sometimes opponents slip up, especially when they think the game is already in the bag. I’ve had games where I was dead lost but managed to swindle a draw or even a win because I stayed in and kept looking for chances. So for me, unless it’s a clear forced mate in a few moves, I usually like to play on.
But I do understand that some people see resignation as a sign of respect, especially when the position is totally hopeless. I guess it really depends on each player’s perspective and what they’re trying to get out of the game.

It really matter of where your pawns are that since you can hide and mabye qween if you have pieces too help like bishops and knights. sorry for bad grammer

Also, just one more thing. Chess is confusing. There are times you think you have an overwhealming attack and then post game you look at stockfish and it says the other player is plus 9. I have played a whole attack where it was complex to defend to the point the other player believed I was winning and resigned. They were plus 9 and if either of us had looked to the loose pawn in the centre holding my position together I would be dead lost. If you resign before playing you might miss a win. Only way to get better is to continue to play.

I don't think it's rude.
