Not sure, but resigning is for quitters. You shouldn't play to win, but instead to learn. Let's say, you loose your queen or you're about to get mated, try to make it as difficult as possible for him to win...etc

It is worth resigning to save your time and get a chance to win in new game. Sometimes you will reach into a hopeless position with <1% chance to win. Then resign and play in a new game with 50/50 chance.
