Resigning or checkmating?

I have never seen a better example of not knowing when to quit.  I prefer the "Never Resign" battlecry, but even I would have thrown in the towel around move 25 or so.  66 moves of just useless wandering serves no purpose at all.  Way to teach him a lesson!  Wink

I think 7 knights on the board has got to be a record!!  You should definitely join The Dark Knights.  After that impressive display, I don't think anyone is more worthy of membership than you.  Cool

Torturous resignation. Make a beautiful move that leaves them wondering how they should recover. Then, yell at them while they're thinking. They will probably be startled. They may tip over their king. You win.

In all seriousness, though, I love seeing people forced to resign against their will after one beautiful move. "You thought you were ahead? You were up a bishop, but now you will die."

Checkmating is great. If the other player is clearly going to lose and they know it, then maybe they should resign. I have resigned from a lot of games that I knew for a fact that I had absolutely no way of winning and I am not ashamed to admit it.

I like it more when my opponent resigns.

When I checkmate my opponent, I need to play out a winning position for a lengthy amount of time while my opponent tries to survive (a la time).

Bottom line:

I like beautiful checkmates.

I like people (including me) to resign in a hopeless position though there may be no immediate checkmate in sight.

I like beauty, but sadism and futile stubbornness are not to my taste.

I prefer resignation, there is nothing like seeing your oppenent submit to you and admit defeat. Although I do like a crafty checkmate every once in a while. Secondly, I do not like having to play out long and tedious endgames when it is certain that one player wil be victorious.

checkmate for sure. resignation or a time loss is no fun

checkmate is nice and resigning is okay.  having fun, however, is the best.
