Interesting, Can you guys add me as friends?
I can. Just why not? If you are not afraid to make friends with the "Russian mafia"

I'll take your advice about walking around the park, señorita J. Falling down of a horse at my age could be fatal...
This year, my main chess-related aim would be to learn all the mainstream openings and a few gambits. I have to work on some unusual openings that get me off guard.
Secondly, I'd like to improve my tactical ability. About 30-40 per week would be good. I really want to play OTB but no tourneys here.
Lastly, I'll like to get better at school. I want to get a 97% score in my final exams. Not that easy, but I'm fed up of the same 96% again and again. And I'm fed up of the fact that 90% of my schoolfellows cheat in exams and nothing is done about it. Every kid who gets 90%+ cheats except me of course. I can't even think of cheating myself. Seems like it is openly promoted here. I think this is getting way too long...
In conclusion, I wanna do everything that improves me and makes me a better person. Cheers, Lee!

If your goal is to make a discovery in science, your way of training the mind is right. But if you just want success (money, fame, women ...), then you have to learn to cheat. In sports and chess championships, too, have a lot of dust. Sorry, it is true

Okie. But only the first two options!
Im not much into new years resolutions, but for the sake of this post.
Continue to enjoy the game
Make Expert
Consistently study tactics
Develop an opening repertoire
To give back as much as my students give me
I am sort of out in the boonies too - not much in the way of OTB opportunities.
I came to chesss.com to renew my love for the game, which I had put away for 30+ years, and to see if I could make a few new friends.
I scored when I met up with kleelof!
You're an absolute sweetheart Jamie.
Keep the great pics coming.
HAHA Look Boog, someone came and deleted our messages about...well, guess I shouldn't mention it.
My New Year resolution is to stop signing everything the year 2014, I,m sure I will get over it my March or April . As far as otb uscf chess goes I will play in them if they are close enough, that type of chess gets in your blood if you start when your 12 years old and even if you stop for 20 or 30 years you still get A rush that only that type of chess can do..
Resolution for 2015 (chess)?
To improve my technique. I find at the class level that there are quite a few bookish players, but get them out of mainline and we will see who is top predator.
I am somewhat close to getting that 2 front of my rating. I am the only one out of all my friends who doesn't have a 2 as the first digit in their rating.
Read in its entirety at least two chess books by year end. One of them will be Simple Chess (Stean).
my resolution of 2015 will be:
1) work out how those horsey things move
2) be nicer to people
3)I have a wash ....
Those horsey things?! Sooo funny!
