rigged

I believe this website is rigged match-making.

I usually practice with two openings to learn them, one with black and one for white. In the beginning all goes well. But then out of the blue, I start getting players that can counter these openings without problems. Even players 100 points lower then me will know how to counter these moves.

I think the website matches you against players that can counter your most used openings. At lichess I have +500 rating points compared to this website.

I don’t think this is the case because the moves I play in the opening to use peoples low development against them usually work that’s probably because at my level there’s no actual gambits but still another reason is lichess has inflated Elo ratings

Yes the website knows which of the millions of accounts can counter your opening so they force them to play you.

If you're playing against opponents of similar strength, you should expect to get outplayed and lose 50% of the time.

That's not suspicious or unusual; that's normal.

And those games where your opponents outplay you - especially in the opening? Those are important games to analyze afterward, to identify your mistakes and learn from them, so you can avoid making them again in the future ...

Online chess sites match players primarily based on rating and recent performance, not the openings you choose.
