roadblock
Doker, explain the h4 pawn move. I've seen this in a few of your games, even though that's the side you often to castle to. It severely weakens the king's protection.
By the way, your piece development in recent games has improved significantly. Well done.
i am trying to get in a defensive position with h4 pawn then to bring out the knight and then the bishop so i can castle the king -- but in the mean time if they take my bishop my rooke will take them and i will move the king over in two moves instead of one- then i can move my queen over and then do the same on the other side -- bringing all the pieces over to a defensive position around my king -- so i can last till move 30 and up
friday morning went even with coffee in hand poorly two major losses both almost at end play each -- just out thought and played on both games -- one against a 139 player and one against a 100 player- so i just played badly --all around--- maybe another game or two before i have to get to the honey due list -- there is new markings on it -

Rook take, King moves twice (3 moves). Rook ends up on an awkward square blocked by pawns. But what worries me most is the lost white bishop was EXTREMELY valuable.
Illustration - see why white bishop is so important when you fianchetto... it protects open white squares around your king. When that bishop is gone, those squares become extremely weak and difficult to defend. Never want to lose that bishop unless absolutely necessary.
quit the act theres no way youre that terrible at chess, you would seriously have to be purposelly making moves that dumb, i could place a monkey on the board and he would make better moves than that, i could place a deaf mute hellen keller and they would play better moves than you, hell i could place myself on pcp and acid and lsd and dmt and crystal all at the same time blindfolded while in a homeless tent while Lin lin is taking care of me and still make better moves than what youre doing, youre not fooling anyone
ouch ouch!!!!! have you vented enough at me ?????
i guess a monkey is smarter than me!!! -- ok i will concede that fact- and yes you can on acid and pcp would do better than me -
but fooling anyone i am not
i am just a bad player making consistently blunders left wide and centre -
but i am getting better -- in on area --- i last a lot longer than i used to and make it to end games somewhat regularly -- i just lose those yes -- but before i never made it past 30/35 moves ever -- so i have improved a bit -- maybe not a fast or as well as others would like but iam an old dog maybe a even a sickly old dog and new tricks are hard to remember and implement -i wish i could fool someone
sat morning --one draw and one loss -- both end game mistakes i made a ton- one against a 109 and one against a 119 -- so even matched - no excuses .
off to finish honey due list for sat-back at around lunch
snook i see what you mean ---i will try not push bishop out or lose it so soon -- good point about the way your showed me about protected whites spaces--thanks
Have you considered it is this 'defensive position' that you play which is preventing you from ever breaking out of 200?
Try: The London System
At your level this opening will work for both Black and White.
If you don't want to do this, that's fine. However, it is indeed quite possible that you will remain a 100 until your death, which by the sounds of it seems soon.
But If you love a solid defense and want to destroy this roadblock, consider learning it.
Collecting all your pieces into a little ball is not "defensive".
At this point, you might want to consider whether chess is the game for you.

What ae you talking about? More specifically which post because the previous one about the london System is not "Collecting all your pieces into a little ball".
Otherwise I think it's too advanced, I mean the opening is great sure he can learn it but that won't really improve his chess. He'll just blunder a little later if he doesn't use his pieces efficiently.
Well, thinking about it maybe it can work if he manages to consistently have a solid position and wait till the opponent blunder to collect that might give him some points.
well some people here really think i am fool -- so much neg feedback-- well maybe iam an old fool -- i see how my defensive positioning in the corner might be a called a ball strategy- but then a ball is very hard thing to crush isn't it? -- i am just trying to survive till the other guy makes a blunder or two or three -- this might not not work on a 200 plus player - but iam hoping it works on a 100 to 150 type player till i can get a few wins in a row consistently- then move on with advice from others here concerned with me getting better
couple games at lunch one win one draw see you at dinner time

I suggest the London since it gives a solid position without demanding much thought.

With your 62% loss ratio in mind
We urge you to reassess your strategy
A position from a recent game of yours. OP is white.
I don't know what games are like at the 100 level. But it is obvious this strategy is not working. A game is not won by lasting a certain number of moves, which is all this is good for. If you play this way, you will rarely win unless your opponent literally feeds you all their pieces.
love your video -- thought it was quite funny -- yes my thinking is just to last till they make enough mistakes to win -- i don't know any other way to play - my middle games is really bad and i miss and make as many mistakes/blunders - as my op---- hoping they make one more than me or they run out of time -- but at ten min. games-- that doesn't happen very often if i play 5 min games it happens more and three min games about every third one -- but i don't really want to win that way --so i will keep pluging -- hey if your have specific moves i can do from my games to improve -- iam all ears
im sorry doker, i didnt mean too, if youre being honest id like to meet you and play chess with you, i could get you good in no time, and we can have fun too
i feeel like youre projecting about someone elses game in a cleverly placed disguise, like a critique through the eyes of someone else, the way you explain the moves and the middle and endgames its not possible, love you bro
Last game...
Are you trying to give me ulcers? The g4 pawn push... You're going to castle to that side, so weakening the king's protection is no good. We talked about this - no moving pawns in front of the king (other than to fianchetto).
I love seeing you finally take control of center squares with that pawn setup, however since you always fianchetto, those center pawns should be reversed. Notice how your white bishop will be blocked by it's own pawn when it moves to g2.
Compared to this...
Notice bishop isn't blocked by it's own pawn. If you're going to fianchetto, this is the preferred pawn setup.
Give 'em Doker!
i see what you mean about the pawns - i will follow that advice -- as far as me living someone else's life ? not sure what you mean there -- i am what i am a 72 old fool- thorax cancer surviving mangey dog - only playing chess for about a year now off and on -- between honey due list duties i can get in a few games here -- few games there - my biggest handicap is i play when my meds are kicking in and lose concentration- bad habit among many-- but i feel - i need to do this --as my poker playing skills have slipped over the last few years and now i lose more times than i win - at about the same ratio as in chess- it just costs money(which IN retirement is hard to come bye and keep) to slip in poker but in chess it costs nothing except abuse from other chess players --which i can take -- mostly because its deserved on my part
one caveat -- to young people in their 20's - start investing in anything -- gold /stocks/small business that you yourself don't work in/any thing to make money (even selling on ebay ) /and then hold on to the money living a lifestyle less than 3/4 of your income for the year-- don't overbuy things// but do take vacations all the time at least two/three a year-- save for those (no credit cards on vacations )- but your need those to restart your engines of life i wasted many years not going to places i wanted to go because other things got in the way now it's too late or to expensive or to cov19 got in the way- and i sitting on my sofa with my cpu- looking at other young and old couples on you tube exploring countries i wanted to see /sailing in waters i wanted to swim in /visiting sights and sounds i wanted to taste - don't be like me -- start now one dime at a time - one dollar/loonie at a time- a $100 made here - $80 dollars saved there --
then pull the cord early -- 45 to 55 years old no later -- when you are still firm well- hard and young enough for adventure- oh yea the most important thing -- find someone who shares your beliefs - your goals- not the good looking one not the rich one - the one that believes in what you are - not someone trying to change you into theirs
