wed morning down to 100 again - tried 1 minute games to see -- well not so good as predicted bad day all around lost 50 dollars playing poke this morning -- so iam broke for rest of week at playing poker --also just got word my radiation treatment has been put off for another three maybe four weeks due to lack of medicine to administer while getting the rads -- and also my ebay business that i do as a side hussle is just tanked no sales in over 2100 listings in a week and half and it expensive just to list now--more now than before- so iam looking to chess to sooth my frustration but not to be -- not today i guess anyways

maybe i will look at u tube and all those sailing couples all over the world showing me places and times i wish i had done when i was young and them making thousands of dollars just getting me be jealous of their lifestyles -- hummmmmmmmmm -- maybe i won't not right now -- pain i can get right here playing chess is good enough-- so maybe i 'll play a few more games (5 min. ones )before working on my ebays listings - to make them sell better --

friday morning trying few games to see how it goes before i tackle the honey due list

lost more than i won so back to the bottom again maybe later i meet less aggresive players -- too many players attack with in three moves -- not fun playing those players - but then it is what it is - i like to playing the game they don't-- they just want to win

nope your are wrong i just don't play the short easy win game -- i have no defense for it and don't want to play people who play that way -- yes i will lose every game when some one plays that short hit strike type game against me -- but i play the game to enjoy -- not to be rushed into hit and run strategy == others may like that play of game and if thats the way you want to play fine - i will just give up as soon as i see it - let you have the win and me the defeat -- and then go on to play someone else who wants to think his game through making me make blunders and winning having defeated me after 30 moves or so and up-- thats why iam here to play the game of chess

look at my other games if you want to criticize how i did this wrong or that wrong i will accept all if its a game where it over 20 moves and i blew blundering my way into defeat -- those i appreciate --but to criticize me for not wanting to play a certain type of game i do not

still at 100 basment level --some of my loses where to hit and run artists which i detest about 3 loss went than four moves or less -- heavens i hate those players

Trying to understand ... in the games above where your opponent is about to mate you with the queen, are you simply not seeing what is about to happen or are you intentionally ignoring it so as to let him win?

In the examples above the most obvious move is to bring your knight out to block his queen. Why not try that?

you do make a point about the knight i should consider and will since-- i have thought about this issue for a while now , i still dislike people who play that way still - and yes i do sometimes miss the move that kills me -- cause iam focused on setting my pieces up for the long game iam afraid its more of blunder on my part i guess is this thinking -- still if i use a knight block then i have to abandon my opening moves and start something else that is my problem the something else moves -- more to consider i guess -- i lost two games today already to that same opening or similar ones out in 3/4 moves -- oh well next time i must use the knight move just to see what will happen

well tried again this morning -- still at 100 so about the same -- weather outside is really teally nice and i have to varnish my deck furniture today honey due list thing so will be back at noon to try again

tuesday at noon-- missed monday due to treatments -- won a couple lost a couple - so about the same i guess -- at least i didn't play any hit and run artists which was nice will try later tonight after i have a nap treatments take it out of you about the next day --

thurday afternoon lost a few all to hit and run artists -except one whom i lost to because i played almost tilting from the other losses -- have to try and not let those win in four moves kind of guys get me so upset -- is what it si -- i guess will try a couple games more to see if i can get over 150 then stop for afternoon med nap

To be expected - your rating went up a bit so you got matched with slightly tougher opponents. Look on the bright side - at least you made an effort to defend against the "hit and run" types and didn't just lose in 4 moves.

well sunday morning and again i lose to hit and run artists - maybe i will figure a way to get back at those that play that type of game- since my score is back in the almost basement again if you play that type of game please don't play me -- i have now limited time to play this game and i want to enjoy the game so please play others who enjoy that sort of play please beat me on the long haul its only 5 mintues you know will play a few more games till i need to med up so ---

monday morning won a few games in a row --that is surprising !!- so maybe this week will be a turnaround who knows - maybe getting out of the basement --?

monday night -- won some lost some so ok i guess -- been trying new opening and it seems to work on anyone under 115 but not over that

no one used hit and run tactics today at all so enjoyed all my games even ones i lost

tuesday morning more losses and then more wins - about the same -- new opening working most of the time to get me to the end of the game -- if i don't meet hit and run players which one of my games i did this morning -- guess its to be expected now ususally one out of four games is a hit and run guy

If you'd moved the knight out to block the queen in that game, stockfish evaluates the position as being equal, so you could've gone on to win.

You aren't going to find the secret to winning chess by surrendering to the most basic attack.

yes you are right -- i have given up on trying to find a magic way to win -- guess most here are right!!!!! there is no way to win through a magic plan -- since every move has a counter move and the only way you win is to have your opponent make a mistake - have now accepted that -- but i hate having the game end in 4/5 moves --- what's the point ???? the hit and run strategy that some employ i see now they like -cause they want the win at any cost -- i just want to now play the game for 30-50 moves before i am defeated - which i now know will be inevitable as my score will show -- so wish there was a way to block those players before the game not after which i do - trying a few different moves after my first opening moves -- which help me with some opponents others not so much - but at least i get a good game in the 5 min format i play lasting till 50 moves is now my only goal -- if by some miracle i win -- always due to a blunder on their part - thats gravy -- but just getting to 50 moves is the new goal win or lose and to read forums between games
