I love seven hundred years old luscious barmaids.
Romance Novels?!
That sounds hilarious Musikamole, you should buy it.
It was only $2.99, and if I don't get past page two, my wife will read it, as she is a fan of the publishing company.
"At one side, as she had seen before, a rather fine chess set stood on a checkered table. It was made of walrus ivory and half the pieces were painted Black. Marie smiled"
She likes chess sets. My kinda gal. I've made it past page two.
That would be awesome.
These electronic devices are fun. I just learned how to bring up both google and wiki. On wiki, I found an article on the real Queen's Gambit chess opening.
Back to reading.
She's a fan of the publishing company...?
That does sound odd. She likes the authors from that publishing house.
My wife, the avid reader, goes through about 20 books to my one. It's gotten worse since she got her Kindle. She reads faster now...something to do with the fast, one click page turn.
I just got an electronic reader, a Kindle. So, I'm shopping at Amazon for a book on the Queen's Gambit. Why have a Kindle without chess books?
Two books are available for my Kindle on the Queen's Gambit, but both are romance novels! No Kindle books on the chess opening. Arg!
Actually, one of the novels is about chess, in a very strange and twisted sort of way.
Here's the Amazon description.
--------------------------------
Queen's Gambit by Marie Treanor
The Grand Master of her body—and her fate.
Ever since a jealous wife cursed her, Christi Blythe has lived seven hundreds years of a half life, trapped by day in the black queen of a chess set.
She lives only between the hours of dusk and dawn, waiting for the one true love who is willing to sacrifice a vital game of chess to break the curse.
Now, years after she has given up hope, her remote Highland hotel is hosting a chess match between two high-profile Grand Masters of the game. One of them is the brilliant but erratic Russian, Andrei Zuvaran.
Andrei suspects there is something different about the luscious barmaid and her chess set. One hot night with her—and one shocking dawn—confirms it. But he can’t afford to lose this match. Not even to free her.
He’s got more riding on it than money, more than his heart. His next move could cost a life.
Warning: This story includes adultery, enchantment and hot, sexy Russians, and defies the widely-held belief that chess is for geeks.

Has anyone read this book? Would I have a better grasp of the Queen's Gambit after reading it?
