Rubix cubes and chess

I have recently learnt to do the Rubix cube. MY fastest time is 1 minute 49 seconds. Since learning how to do this my ability to think out chess moves quickly has really improved. Could there be a link there?

no i know someone that does it in 1 min and sucks in chess.
