TB has shown soccer to have mistakes in it, showing high elements of unco-ordination. On a related topic, has anyone been abused by rude members recently?

Like I said in a recent post, the abuse phenomenon is still alive; I got two in the last week on live chess, the only two I've ever got so far though. I don't intend to disable chat--you might miss out on useful information from your opponent. That's the way I see it.

How many times did you get useful information from your opponent ?

I've had a suggestion or two given me--mainly something about the opening, nothing too serious--but mostly it's chit-chat. However, I was getting many consecutive aborts immediately I tried to play anyone two days ago and the last guy who aborted said, "Lag". I don't know if it was my lag or his but it settled my mind a bit that maybe.... Besides, I still enjoy the contact and the banter after the game. It's still played between human beings, you know.

In the eyes of one of my recent opponents, I was just sitting there doing nothing the whole game, "just like everyone in my country."

I beat a guy in a 5 minute blitz game recently, offered him a rematch, and he promptly responded with "fvck you", which I found rather unnecessary, considering I hadn't said a word to him or done anything that might be considered untoward in the game.

Maybe it's just me but I find it somewhat annoying when the winning side offers a rematch. Shouldn't it be up to the losing side to ask for a rematch if they are feeling like it ?

But then this gives the winning side the opportunity to ignore the rematch request, letting the loser dangle in the wind...

Isn't that the whole point of rematch request function ?

Have had very good and friendly experiences on this site. It's really an improvement over the other site I used to play on.

This site has some really helpful and splendid people who really make chess.com. In my opinion they should deserve a medal! But as we know the coin has two sides..

Avatar of TheGrobe

But they do get a medal:

not to be mean to anyone who are really good people, but some of the people here are complete "dodos" They prejudged me, and they tell me I can't play. Someone even said I play like trash. When they played me, they lost within 20 moves and then they went on main chat and made one of those things that look like whats below:

PawnPusher3 vs. equues9 (Thats not his real name... I dont slander people) equues won by resignation. +15.

That is one of the most obnoxious things you can do. I am glad that this forum was put up so thanks for that.

What to do when someone is rude to you during a chess game.

Post a forum topic about this rude person, inculding this persons username.

Responses will include:

people sharing similar experiences of rudeness of fellow chess-players

people stating just to block them

people stating that people who are rude online are cowards

People who question were etiquette has gone

Pictures of E-thugs

All of this will end up as another forum topic which has been done a plethora of previous times.

The conclusion, the realisation that is unneccessary to name rude users of this site and the best thing to do is to block the offending user or disable chat in your games.

To save time, feel free to search forum topics and look up previous responses to this occurrence.

gambit13 - you speak with the irrefutable logic of a fellow chess fanatic, but you're missing the human element: the guy was just 'hurt' and is reaching out to the community to assertain whether it's a fluke or the norm. A search through the archives is a lonely way to go about it. He/she needs a hug and there's nothing wrong with it. Kiss

From my experience you're all buttheads...just kidding. Truth is, I like losing to all of you and most of you treat me just fine. I love it here.

Without rude members, I think the site would be down to kohai and TheGrobe, and maybe Erik.

Avatar of bigpoison

Because he, too, is a smartass.

Avatar of Atos

The point is, almost everyone can be rude at least occasionally.

I  played a game against a player called [NAME DELETED by Moderator] today. It was closely contested and in time trouble I found a good plan but blundered.

He asks for a rematch, then we play two moves before he call me an

"idiot" and leaves.

Is this typical on chess.com?  Are members allowed to behave in such unwarranted

and rude fashion. I enjoy the site, but players like [NAME DELETED by Moderator] are taking me away from it.

Has anyone else encountered abuse like this? What do I do about it?
