Is sandbagging considered cheating on chess.com or just unethical?
Sandbagging
[Don't misuse the forums to make public accusations. If you feel a need to accuse someone, use the report button under help. -CrystalMoon ] is a sandbagger
i suspect some people may sandbag for other reasons on chess.com: in a tournament, you will have several games at once, and might spend more time on stronger ranked opponents. underdogs often have that advantage naturally, but how often have you seen players start a tournament low ranked and then mysteriously play like a much higher ranked player? im sure mostly it is natural random clusters and losers suspicion that motivates this kind of thinking, but i cant help but wonder...
Sandbagging is cheating.
It exists on all chess sites.
How many times have you had an opponent make the first couple of moves then stop?
Then there's the guy who plays so slowly in bullet he clearly has no desire to win.
One guy reported twice is a definite sandbagger. Literally resigned a few moves in for multiple games in a row to drop 100s of rating points. Also posts links to malware when contested. As said above, chess.com don't seem to be bothered. I'm surprised. [public accusations not allowed-- VP] - name reported. Literally has dozens of games resigned after a few moves. He's still operating. Chess.com
I did not know that it was possible to gain money playing in chesscom. How is possible: someone could just use a computer to win money... ? I will never play a tournment for money on-line; that is not serious at all.
Hey all, We are going to have a chess tournament for our Discord Members, its gonna be only for layers rated below 1000 on chess.com but we are not able to see how will we prevent sandbagging over there. Can anyone please help. Its an Indian server.
It's considered cheating, as they are now doing cash prizes due to more online games and COVID-19, please refer to this video with IM Danny Rensch.
