Screen or Board?
It depends where you live. In most large cities there are chess clubs where you can just show up and play OTB, and not necessarily even in a tournament. If you are in a smaller city or rural area it may be less accessible, and you may have to travel.
There are so many OTB tournaments all over that are lucky to even have 1 or 2 NM or IM participate, let alone a GM. I've played in smaller local tournaments in FL,USA with 20 or less and some of the players are only 800. A NM showed up a few times is all.
Otb for me...nothing beats the nerves of sitting down for round 1...early morning...regardless of my opponents rating...I am always shaking a bit...you dont have that in online games...no facial expressions...you cant feel the atmosphere in the room when you are the last board still in play and people gather around to watch your last 5 mins☺
...People can multitask at home, ...
This is the reason I play online instead of OTB. I rarely have enough time (which must be in the range of hours and dedicated and be continuous for OTB play). With online play, I'm doing some work at the same time while playing chess (which sometimes gives uneven performance due to distractions, but that's life).
I prefer OTB over online chess, and there are many tournaments and clubs near me; just that large time block... hard to arrange.

... and at my level (i.e. beginner), I sometimes get paired with brand new tournament players in the first round. Some of them, their hands visibly shake as they move. I'm thinking... hmmm, I wonder if it is a fair win if I win.. and then I lose : )
