Same situation I am in. Have you attempted to play games against yourself? If you are completely fair and play hard on both sides, you'd be surprised at how easily you can actually lose to yourself. It does help, though it can be limited.
I would, except I am not much of a Skype user nor do I have any idea where the heck my old headset went.

Eventually. Might be done for a little while. I can handle a LOT of games when I am sitting at a board. Get a bit uncomfortable when playing online. Probably later or another time my friend.

Because being over 16 makes any difference. Anyway, rolling some Skype with voice chat and video chat off (or on) is moderately anonymous and no sane person would be willing to randomly meet up with complete strangers for "Chess Lessons". While it can happen and has happened, the chance of it happening from a Skype call is low when in regards to what the call is about.
It is called common sense, and people nowadays are a little wiser than they used to be in regards to the internet. Bar some the normal exceptions.
It's not like we're sharing our personal details. It's only a casual study group, nothing more.
Anyway, once you get something going make sure to send me the details. I would be willing to start up Skype once again if it was for Chess.

Skype is an online discussion program that you can type on, voice chat with or without video discussion and is free for basic functions.
I'd be willing to join some sort of study group, but it would help if we had some stronger players to structure it properly otherwise it'll just fizzle down after a while. It would also be nice to have an actual group page on here too.
While this is likely true, there is a lot that can be gained when people of similar strengths are put together. Even if it did fizzle out there is a good chance that anybody who puts in real time will have something to show for it.

searching for a study partner. My peak rating was 1460 on chess.com four weeks ago, and I just came back to the game today. I'd say I'm around a weak 1300 but somehow I'm managing high 1300s here. Skype's preferred :)
