When playing OTB. The time is a tool not an obstacle.

Except if you're in a lost position and want to draw the game

Develop your pieces to the most active position you can! Double check every move!

Although giving a check with two pieces is a good strategy,as the victim will have no choice but to move their king, thus making them lose a tempo and make their king more exposed. But every move?Don't think that's possible. But if you didn't mean it as what it means in chess then you have a point tongue.png

Sorry for the confusion! That is a little funny! I meant to check each move you make twice!

Scholar's Mate defence tip:

When you're black, do this:

If you're white, expect this.

My third tip is... Don't hang any other piece!

Umm.... why are you scared of the Scholar's? I'd say if that's the reason you play e6, you are quite the beginner. Play the opening that's best for you.

No. Then simply play d4. It will transpose into d4 (sometimes e4!), and the Symmetrical variation is still ok for black.

Okay, time for my tips:

1. Play unknown openings. It will throw them off guard. BUT prepare your own theory and traps

2. Center center center
Here white is clearly dominating. Because of the center

3. Tactics tactics tactics
This was a GM game. TACTICS.

4. Know when to gambit
5. Mobility
When you don't know what to do, count all spaces each piece can move to. W and B. Whoever has a + usually is better, since they have more flexibility. Also, try placing your peices where they are the most mobile

6. King defense
NOT always 0-0, but GET YOUR KING SAFE

The REASON people play the french (avoiding Scholar's mate) is ridiculous, but the french is actually good.
