It can't hurt. Keep in mind that many principles developed assuming the classical position. Why should knights be developed first? Well in classical chess they control the center and control more squares overall than bishops. Given the classical piece placement it's easy to open the position (or prepare to crack a solid position, such as ...d6 ...Nbd7 and ...e5 against d4 and f4) but in Chess-960 it is more concrete. Development still matters, but certain positions will be hard to get a knight other than the second on a specific side and king safety takes on more importance in some positions since the king could be off to a side, and it just takes 1.b3 and immediately a bishop points there.
