Okay, thanks. Of course it had to have be done before :S.
After having watched the candidates tournament and the first nine games of the wc the main problem in chess today seems to be that most games end in a draw. Draws are often unexciting and a world class player playing for a draw will almost always be able to achieve one (atleast with white). The same problem used to exist in league football. In order to combat this the FA introduced the current scoring system, giving away three points for a win and just a sigle one for a draw. The result was a more attacking and viewer-friendly game.
I think it would be interesting if the same system was at least tried out in chess. Has it been done before? If no, why not? I believe chess needs to produce more wins, and what better way to do it than to promote attacking variations?
