Americans are wonderful people too, no doubt about that. But it seems that when I play at night against people from Bulgaria, The Phillipines, and other countries, it seems that people are cheating. I mean, people coming out with grandmaster moves to thwart my otherwise mantastic chess skills. Atleast when I play during the day I dont feel I"m playing against a machine by some lovely person from another country. rant done!

Just think about that comment and ask yourself.. Is it valid.. probably not. Yes there are cheaters on the site but not all players are cheaters... let alone whole countries.

I doubt that you are strong enough to tell a 1600er move from a "grandmaster move".

Yeah, you should stick with those USA-flagged players. If they have a Coca-Cola avatar you can trust'em.  It's your right as an American to only play americans.

No, they're just better players. Deal with it.

You didn't stop to think that maybe the people from other countries are better at chess than the Americans against whom you play?

Im sure there's some amendment in the constitution stating that it's against your rights as an American to use an engine so rest assured no one from the US of A will be cheating.

I, too, find that I usually get an easier game against Americans. Maybe it's the schools.

The Phillipines are somewhat infamous, because there was an online community of cheaters disguised as girls.

This is interesting. My toughest online opponent has been from The Netherlands. The easiest has been from Syria. The American opponents I've played, online and OTB, have been a blend of really tough to fairly easy.

It is a shame there isn't an "Americans only" tick box when you search. I also want an "Italians only" tick box, they are normally quite easy to beat. We should suggest that to chess.com

BTW last night I plaid an American. He was quite good but in the end we agreed to a draw. With hindsight maybe I had a sligtly better chance of promoting a pawn, but who cares?

My experience is exactly the opposit - I find my average American opponent stronger than the one from Philippini or India. Of course, I don't avoid them.

And about this topic...I don't think that people of that type of rating cheat much whether they are from USA or the rest of the World. I personally never doubted that someone is cheating against me, maybe I am too naive. lol

Should I also avoid playing all those rude Yanks and people who live in the "Land of Fruits and Nuts" (Calif)? (asked with tongue firmly planted in cheek). Tongue Out

Avatar of FuzzleOIL

People who play during night just cheat more often because it is easier when it's dark and noone sees them.
So, yes, you are right. Captain Obvious told me.

How do you know where any of your opponents are from/living anyway ? Their flag here ?  Many are dishonest in even the flag they fly and are often not in/from that country .... there is no way to honestly know .

Im in the Philippines and know there are many real girls here who ply chess and even though I was a USCF rated expert, there are 15 or 16 year old girls here that have plus scores against me.

Not sure if the depends on the country, but sometimes my 1200 rated bullet opponents seem extremely strong to me. But then, when I analyze the games afterwards, I see hanging pieces all over the place...

So I must have been to drunk or tired or something to notice most blunders Embarassed

It's almost like there is no correlation between where you live and how good you are at chess.
