Should the Checkmate be abolished?

Seriously Guys the Check mate is unfair.

For example in this diagram,White has the larger army and his king is supposedly dead because he is blocked by his own soldiers..In  A real battle the soldiers would move away.Hence i request the checkmate to be abolished...

Yeah, I had to rephrase "haha n00b you suck, it's not even checkmate, I'm superior" - thought it was maybe a little too much :)

        How did the black rook get to the position shown? The only open file is the "d". If that had been used, rook to d1 would have been mate.

Its check  mate please  double check.

And by the time the soldiers move away Blacks Elephant(Rook) would have trampled whites king.....Thats why its Check mate which entails the king dying for sure the next move

HAHA.  I like this kind of a troll ... giving us something to think about and make a case for, but being honest enough to be upfront about it!

In making a case for case checkmate, as per your request, I would say it prevents a tactic that could spell the end for chess - saving your queen until the end.  For example, when I was younger, I used to think checkmate was unfair and didn't make sense.  I thought it should be a simple matter of whoever takes all the other person's pieces first wins. However, over time I realized that would simply devolve into a "Checkmate the queen" type of strategy.  Once mulitple pieces had been taken off the board, and the queen was out in the open, most games would become a draw, because the queen would never be captured.  

I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else.  Or maybe someone else would have another idea for winning the game (such as being ahead a certain amount of material, etc.).

I guess I also like checkmate because of the artful nature that can be behind it. Like a well trained special ops team, no matter how badly you're losing, a well planned and executed sneak attack can turn the tide ...

Just my thoughts ... Nice thread idea!
