Should We Introduce GM Lite Title in Chess?

There should be a GM Lite title that should be 2500- I think 2650, therfore some grandmasters are still GM's and some GM's will be demoted to GM Lite.

I wouldn't mind having some (or a lot) of their "intelligence."  Wouldn't put it in quotes either.

My friend, you do know that metal-heads are just executing set of preprogrammed instructions.

A human obeying to instructions all the time, without expressing their free will and an independent view on things, wouldn't qualify as an intelligent person, would they?

I like your thinking. Though not feasible (demotion doesn't work anymore in modern times, only promotion), I also picked B. I would even extend your 2500-2650 to 2500-2725 or so (+- 25)

I thank you.

I am a mere 11 year old.

I am humbled.

The pleasure is mine, young man.

You see, it took you only 11 years to come to the same conclusion for what took me more than five times that muchgrin.png

You might feel like a patzer, but only a True Patzer would ask the following question.  What about your position after ... f5 would cause you to resign?

I was surprised at first too. What I, as an Ultra Lite, can now see is that the f-pawn is taboo as Bxf3 ensues making havoc with White's pawn formation. If Sc3, trying to defend the e-pawn, then Nf6, and pawn is either gone, or Bxf3 comes anyway.

Kamalakanta will best explain to us

Yes, I'd like to hear what Kamalakanta has to say here.  The frequency and character of many resignations, especially at the higher levels of play, still dumbfound me.  In many cases, it seems like a lot of chess gets left on the table.  That said, I realize I don't see what higher rated players see in a position.

Krunker is a game, not a slang term.

And yes, I heartily agree with redRonaldaho, most chess games on the higher levels just seems to be astoundingly stupid because one person just resigns. I have seen trash moves though, be the difference between a bishop and a rook.

They already call 'em "super GMs"

Since GM is a title for life, it would be difficult to degrade already existing GMs.
Also, SuperGM is already an unofficial title used all the time

They'll have to call them Super-Duper GMs.

The Masonic order also have Grandmaster title.

Now think they begin introducing Super Grandmastersgrin.png

By the way, do you think they promote 12-year old kids to regular Grandmasters as we do in chess?

The elo rating is enough to distinguish between the strongest and the weakest GM.

And maybe titles could be abolished and we can just keep the elo rating.

aren't the titles a kind of a medieval thing? (I know it's less than a century old, but I think there's a feel of medieval society/aristocracy about it)

Ok, but then don't ELO points convey a sense of coldness?

A GM is not only a successful player and the title it is not only a 'privilege', an elaborate, frivolous symbol. It is also a tribute to the history of chess and the bearer carries a responsibility.

Chess is a game of history...
