'Put that board AWAY--the lawn needs mowing!'

'But, Dear, I'm playing through this Fischer game and he's tying Spassky in the Najdorf.'

'I'll tie YOUR Najdorf if ya don't pull that mower out th' shed and start cuttin' some grass!!

I've seen people playing with the board the wrong way round and when you tell them, they say it doesn't matter.

The reality is much more sad. The statue was modelled after a leged where this hero guy ends up killing his brother, and then dies the grisly death that befalls most Greek mythical heroes.

Well, my lord that does sound like a sad tale indeed. However. That can quite possibly raise questions, such as the reasoning for killing his brother? It could have been an assisted suicide, you know, as such things are possible.

The bottom line is simply his body language shows that he has much remorse. Second thoughts, perhaps?

I felt the same exact way when I punched out that windshield on the company van 7 years ago that got me fired. Much remorse for that!! But to kill someone? Nope, that's going way too far.

I like Allie's response much better, less drama, and it's humorous at that. Nicely done, m'lady.

Thank you much! A picture tells a thousand words and the context of the picture tells a thousand more!

^Ohh that sounds smart Cool Do I have to copyright everything from now on? ha ha

(Btw, for some reason this thread shot from 300k to 500k views between August and September. It would be fun to see a thread with 1 m. views! Think that will happen ever? Or before the new year?)

Either way, it's really the quality of your comments that matter and it has made this fun Laughing

Hereby adding to quantity factor: +1...adding to quality factor: +0.

lol... it's the creativity that counts too, in which case, you unknowingly added to the quality factor. Cool

Perhaps it helps the chess.com site generate more $. This is quite possibly the reason why the mods have left this thread go off topic the 100+ times that it has.

I don't think the mods would get involved if a thread got off-topic, would they have?

Syd_Arthur

:)

btw, if anyone hasn't checked out the "Chess Fever" film on Brazil_World's thread, it is really fantastic...and relevant to this topic re chessers/non-chessers in a certain way.

Once in the past, one of the mods messaged me that I should strongly consider blocking another user from the thread because of what they kept posting here. I agreed with that and I did. Also, one time one of them asked another user(s) on the thread directly not to go into a particular topic, which I also agreed with!

You must be talking about EDB123? I think that's what his alias was. He displayed a Canada flag, I think he talked about wishing me death or something like that?

I don't remember but yeah that sounds like a reason for blocking <_<

Probably he killed his brother because he lost a chess game to him

Question! Is this... chess?

^Youtube

As the title says, this is the first launch of Macintosh by Steve Jobs (AKA Apple) in 1984.

camberfoil

Looks like chess to me...

I like nostalgic computers.

but

I will be joining this discussion soon. This is so funny that I have to join in. Just one problem.

I'm on page 133. From five months ago. I have no idea if that's even relevant today but who cares.

IT"S SO FUNNY!
