Stuff Non-Chess Players Say

1 minute bug house.
Lol, YES!!! ;D
omg, guys wanna brain juice tonite

I once went on holiday to India and there was a guy playing for money in the park, so I gave him a couple of games and won a few quid, but then he kept insisting on a rematch and raising the odds. He seemed quite a reasonable player, but I made quite some money out of him. Then he asked for a double-or-nothing game and thrashed me completely. He explained that he used to be the world champion. I said: "I knew there was something Vishy about you!".

Hmmmmm, so he was playing below his level on purpose to then come back at you with a double or nothing game? If I understood correctly, jeez, that's very dishonest...

An old friend of mine said to me, after watching that I played chess all the time: Chess is become a public toilet, let him alone because there are plenty! and I answered: 'I will be a champ of chess someday and you will smell earth, dirty dog!'
Was that translated? sry I don't get it >_<

*saying this out of nowhere*
What I find funny about tournaments is that, if you're even good enough to win any money (and I'm not saying you have to be any certain rating but you should be pretty good in your section), many times you won't win enough to cover your travel, food, hotel, other expenses etc. for that tourney. And if you do win that back, and extra, it probably won't actually be that much. There're obviously exceptions to this, like professional chess players and exceptional players, but it's a general observation - and well known fact

Except for me. They pay me for just showing up. It's my popularity.
hehehehehe. Actually as a fact, in all the tournaments I've seen, grandmasters don't need to pay the entry fee because they're so good. But if they win something then a percentage of that is taken away. (But I think that's within reason since their winnings would be higher and there'd be no entry fee.)

While we were playing a game, I was trying to teach someone how to castle on either side because he asked me to teach him. I showed him that you could castle either on the kingside or queenside. I had castled kingside, but I was showing him his options. He said that he didn't really believe me because he had seen me castle kingside. (He thought I was lying to him or something about the possibility of castling on the other side.) >___<

I played one of my first chess matches (that I remember) against a classmate about 11 years ago. I didn't really know the rules but I remember him being out of pieces, only one pawn and the king, I had a queen.
When I took his last pawn, he shouted:
HAHA, DRAW! I HAVE ONLY MY KING, IT'S A DRAW!

lol.....

"How do you keep track of which Bishop is which?"
I guess that was a good question considering the person was a newbie.
True story. I was explaining to a non-chess playing friend of mine how some super players can play blindfolded games. His response was a classic of the oh, so stupid variety. Utterly amazed that anyone could play blindfolded, he asked, "Really? And are their hands tied behind their backs, too?" He was dead serious. I could only shake my head and mutter, "Only the ones who were about to be executed."
I have been down 10 seconds and two queens and been stalemated on bullet.
Speaking of bullet, it's such a great ice breaker for club chess. Lots of smiles and laughter :D And without an infinite amount of chess sets in a chess club, everyone gets a chance to play.
