Hi guys ,

i want to ask about playing against computer here at the site .

i won against the 1600 rated computer many times , does that mean that i can play against real players holding a rating of 1600 ? , or the Elo of computers is different ?

Thanks .

Short answer, there is no direct comparison.  It can mean you play better or worse than a 1600 rated player.

Longer answer... computers play chess in a very different way than humans.  Add to this that the 1600 (and next level up) computer is just a dumbed down version of the computer's true strength and you see you're playing a very odd thing.  It will make very strong moves for a few moves then it will blunder a knight for no reason.  I played around 10 games against it and my impression was it's play was very strange.

Also there is sometimes confusion between live chess ratings and the correspondence chess (called turn-based) rating on this site.  The two are far from equivalent, and it's observed that the turn based is always higher (sometimes much higher) than an individual's live chess.  Your live chess rating is likely to be closer to a real national or international (FIDE) rating... but again there are no 1:1 relationships between any different rating scales.
