Really, does anyone know why it's called a skittles room?
The skittles room is a place for people to play off-hand/pick-up games of chess. These are leisure games which are generally played without clocks.
No, no. I know what a skittles room IS, I want to know WHY it's called a skittles room. It seems like a very random name to give it. Why not something like "liesure room" or "waiting room"?

Let me reiterate: a leisurely game of chess is referred to as a skittles game. Thus, the room for people to play games like those is called the skittles room.
Okay, well if skittles rooms are named so after the games, why are the GAMES called skittles games?
