I just played my first game of the day.  We started and within minutes the bloke had got me on the run.  He was playing a fast game and giving me a good beating.  All of a sudden he made a mistake and lost his queen.  This happened in a position that got me on the seventh rank and i was right in there. I was on a roll and a couple of moves from mate when my computer froze up. I was gutted.  Does anyone know why this happens or if there are any measures i can take to ensure it does not.

Poor thing.  I've had a couple of those incidents.  You just breathe deeply and try to forget.

Well, at least you had him on the run, sometimes seeing the end of the game isn't super important if you had him beat.  Unless its happening quite a bit, just laugh at it. Otherwise go buy a new computer :)

then i remember ...it is just a game.Smile

My Dad always says that when we play blitz and I win, with him maybe managing to have been a pawn up for one move at some stage.

try to clean hard disk.

defragment tool used every month, and don´t use all those icons, and shortcuts, at desktop. things like facebook, msn, skype and others at same time.

they evaporate machine resources.

...go into maintainance...and options will pop-up...go into internet...frequent history cleaning etc. helps as well...but as your computer usage increase...you will need to increase cpu capacity (memory and speed)...

...all the best...

you never mentioned if you are using any norton product or mcafee. Both are hard on resources. The last time there was a problem you deleted cookies. You may want to look at your firewall setting. Norton was the problem for me on chessworld. Just and idea.

marvellosity

Since Norton 2009 it's much less heavy on the resources it uses.
