Well there are obviously different types of correspondence chess, but it's really far from an actual chess game if you use a computer. I don't even feel like I need to argue this point just common sense.

I believe correspondence chess is a great tool for learning !( if you want it to be !)...Chess learning is all about ANALYSING ...and this type of chess provides us TIME for THINKING and BOARD for analysing ! And it shouldn't bother us that much if someone is cheating or not , much more important is to get game , which would give extra understanding about chess !
So if you want to improve and learn something from your games , correspondence chess is a very good way to do that ( just take enough time before every move, write your notes and analyse your games afterwards !) 😉

Yes I agree. The important thing is what you get out of it, and as long as you're playing your best most honest game you will surely improve!
That is exactly why i didnt join one of those. What is the point, if engines are allowed?
We could ask as well what's the point of playing without engines if engines make us play better. Obviously it's just a matter of taste.
