Sorting Database

I recently appended games from SCID into Fritz 8's database. When I search for games comprising the board position, the games which came from SCID are out of chronological order. Is there a way to reindex, or resort the games so they appear in the db in order?

Thanks

I have Fritz 12, 13, and 14 on my current computer.  I have Fritz 8 on a CD, but I'm not about to install it.  (I'd never use it now, although I did many years ago.)

As I recall, there was no way to do it with Fritz 8.  Note that Fritz 8 is basically a playing program.  Something as simple as sorting a database is, believe it or not, beyone the capabilities of that program.

The easiest way to do what you want is to use Fritz 8 and save that database as a pgn file.  Then, load that new pgn file is another program, like Scid vs. PC, that IS capable of sorting that database in chronological order.  (Scid can probably sort it as well, but I don't use Scid.)  After sorting it chronologically, again, save it as a pgn file and then open that new pgn in Fritz 8.  That's it.

Yea, it takes an extra step or two, but since Fritz 8 can't do it, that's the only workaround I know.

Thanks, Mr. Collins; using SCID for the sorting and then reappending does seem like a plausible solution; I'll try it, and report back.
