How can you cheat in a game where you need to play in 1 second?

You can't. It is not very easy. First, you need to hack the chess.com server or get admin account to get access to administrator right.

There are Websocket Javascripts on Github for free where you can connect your PC to the server. ( If you would like to learn, you can learn your own).

Hacking someone' private server?  Well, 1 in million people will do. You can see such accounts 1 in a mollion. Most hackers will be interested in hacking the banks to be rich.

Conclusion, accusing someone who play as that fast speed as cheater is totally meaningless.

Or you could just read the board state, load that into an engine, and have a script that moves your mouse to input the engine's move.

How do you think people cheat at bullet with an engine? They don't hack the server.

Maybe the reason scores are removed without banning people is there's an exploit, or a bug, that gives people extra time or counts a puzzle as correct no matter what, or similar such thing.

I am sure that you cant load the bullet game automatically into your computer without javascript.

In bullet game you get 60+60 sec( opponent time included), theoretically if you are fast enough in setting up position once per move , possible to cheat. But very likely, you will be running out of time.

I saw a 2800  GM blitz player vs a cheater game in 3 min here. GM can hold for nearly 40 moves ( though his position is about to lose), cheater even lose in time.

llamonade

Cheating in bullet games has been around since 10+ years ago. You can have an engine make all moves in less than 1 second. Yes a person needs to know how to write a program.

If a person is quick with a mouse, they can manually make moves even in a 3 minute game. I know because I've tried it (not on this site, not even in this year, so don't worry lol).

But manually transferring moves is the most rudimentary way.

Some interesting stuff for me here, guys... :-) Thanks for sharing!

11/05/19 there is an IM with username Casper_Schoppen with 96 points right now, must be a bug or cheat. On second place is a GM with username jlucasvf with 69 points. On third place spicycaterpillar, and poor Hikaru on 8th place... Does anyone know wether the 69 points by jlucasvf are legit? 69 and 96 are not impossible, but... they are unbelievable....

orim15

Check out this video!

Flawlessss

They are both legit

Elroch

Note how here some people see a big number and don't even look for any more evidence to make an (incorrect) conclusion. Something to be learned from that.

cedriccappelle

Yeah I just found that video, it's crazy how they make it look so easy... I was wrong happy.png First I didn't believe it was legit because 55 was the record for such a long time and suddenly... they began crushing it.

Maybe a week ago chess.com twitter mentioned he'd gotten over 100, and if he makes an account with his name on it then they wont delete it.

So I was expecting this tongue.png

Hikaru once said that he thought getting 58 in puzzle rush was the "upper limit"

llamonade

If you're just solving them then maybe it is the upper limit.

Certainly 100 is impossible if the difficulty increases and you have to solve them.

Elroch

The difficulty can't increase past the top of the scale, which is reached after about 60. With the recent fix, thereafter it supplies non-repeating high rated puzzles.
