Just wondering what other people think of the games in these two videos and the conduct displayed by each person who lost.  Were they justified in being upset, or did they deserve to lose fair & square?

I would have given you a really nice response, but I'm not going to adjust my fonts to read what you have to say. Please consider using the normal font, especially the size. Cheers.

BeatleFred

Sorry about that, the smallest font size I see is 8 pt, which is what I selected as I'm writing this.

Wilbert_78

That's your choice ;) And my choice is not to read any further comments written in this fontsize. Too harsh on the eyes. Shame, you seem like a nice guy. Best wishes to you. I hope some day you get more confindent and dare to speak in a regular fontsize :)

In the first, Irina had a legitimate gripe; Anna was moving her pieces before Irina had even hit her clock.

In the 2nd, Magnus lost fair and square.

@Wilbert_78:  As I tried to explain in my previous message, the smallest font size is 8 pt, which is what I selected. Am I overlooking something simple, and there is another smaller font size available, 6 pt, 4 pt ??   I presume the font size selection box is the same for everyone here on Chess.com    ps: I dont see a significant difference in the font size between my messages and yours.  The 8 pt seems normal, the other selections offered, 12 14, 18 etc are much larger.

Wilbert_78

I do see a difference... But this really is the last time I try to read you if you keep on using this font. Here is a picture how it looks for me ;)

I only responded to try and be polite, not to intentionally annoy you. My monitor is a 23" Apple Cinema Display. Its a fairly large flat panel monitor, thus the font size is enlarged (as can be set via Windows 7 options,or in the web browser), but I thought that here on Chess.com, the size of words is controlled only by the font selection box located in the menu/toolbar in the center between the A and the ABC check mark selections). The range of sizes offered is 8 pt to 36 pt. I have no idea why there are so many huge font sizes offered, but only 8 pt as the smallest.

Wilbert_78

In that case, have fun being 'special' :) We have lots of 'special' people on here ;)

I think if you just leave the font selection box alone at whatever the default is you will be better off, because your font is very small BeatleFred

BeatleFred

I tried searching for some Info on Fonts, found a few things such as:

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/font-size

Perhaps Wilbert_78 could simply do a Ctrl -  (instead of Ctrl +) to reduce the size if its easier on his eyes. I tried to be polite to him, only to listen to his complaints and sarcasm, which I only have so much patience for. Thus, if the word size is too much of an "ordeal" for you, then pretend I dont exist in this world and dont read my messages. I will try to "survive" without your participation in this discussion and hopefully some other good folks will be interested to comment on the two videos. If not, thats ok, its not a huge priority. Best Wishes to you, and 'Thanks'.

back to the original point asked about players acting in a sportsman like way

having played v a person who hogs the clock and creates a situation where the other player may not press theirs that is wrong and the layer should be asked not to do this

Carlsen would get more respect from me if he didnt seem so rude i was astounded that he seemed to treat a player as gentlemanly as Anand with ignorance and disdain this sets a bad example to our younger chess players who hold Carlsen as a hero

We practice and play a noble game that has passed down the ages as a civilised pastime i fear future generations may not experience this if unsportsmanlike behaviour continues at all levels of chess

re font size you work with the tools you have a little effort on my side made reading this easy enough

Mr_Tarkanian

What are people complaining about???  Good ole Beatle Fred.  John and Paul!

BeatleFred

Thanks for the replies. (Lets not forget George & Ringo, Mr_Tarkanian :)

I think the game between the two women can be disputed somewhat if it appears that some pieces were knocked over during the super-fast mode of play between them. But with Carlsen, touch-move is the rule, and he clearly touched the piece, thus her victory was justified.  Maybe he was more mad at himself when he left the table, but regardless, he could have shown a bit more respect. Or atleast express some regret for his behaviour to her later on .

Don't  judge sombody you never met in person and had a one on one talk. When the cameras are not on never know what really goes on. We have a lot of that on this site.

Please use a bigger font as some of us do not see all that well, or have small screens on our computers.

I wanna know if he can teach me how to make it smaller. Maybe we can get away with smack talk as the mod can not see it. lol.

I some how doubt that as their monitors must be Hulk like for multitasking.

Can you hear me now?

BeatleFred

I thought the complaint was my font size was too big. Now its too small?

This is a practice sentence in 8 pt size.

This is the next size up in 10.

This is 12.

Back to 8 now.  I think a good option, which I mentioned earlier is to use either the Ctrl + and - keys to enlarge or reduce.

Hey i like this as it give me all kinds of options. Must slow others down when they want to say something smart back as a reply  as they have to   look real hard to read it and it will take some time.

One can go into rant mode it woudl hard to say your ranting as it takes up vey little space. lol

I like this i should have thought of this a long time ago.

If you are reading this you are looking to hard and won a million dollars .... sike.!
