Great! Once I will play some games with all the guys here, but at the moment I have a lot to do with a Daily tournament (I hope I will win this time, let's see).

Johnny, I have the smaller one too and love it. I’m sure you will love it too. Let me know when it arrives and Inwill gladly play with you

So I was able to pay the balance after a software glich on their end. My grandkingdom is paid for in full I am now waiting for the tracking information.  At this time I am wondering about the chess.com compatability.  When I placed my order nine weeks ago chess.com compatability was then two months off so can anyone update us on where we stand on that point?

Brioma33

I asked about that  and was told a couple of months. That was last month. Maybe I will ask Squareoff about that again today, I’m sure they will say a couple of months... again.

They are still diligently working on completing the chess.com compatibility. Last I spoke to them they said it was going to be there next update so I can only assume it was their main focus now. I'm guessing its harder to make apps communicate than just creating their own like the ----------------------------> Analyze This <------------------------ app that they just created and released recently. This app is a must have if you guys haven't downloaded it yet. Play a game on your square off set and then analyze it after with the analyze this app.

I am planing to make a Turk and use the Square Off to make the chess machine looks pretty cool.

As I don’t have much space in my apartment I will probably do only the upper part of the machine. But better would be of course to do the whole machine.

I am starting to construct a Turk to integrate the Square Off. It will not have the same size as the original, as I don’t have enough space in my apartment for it.

I still have to learn how to make the Turk’s head. I know a guy who exposed an amazing Einstein- doll in his shop. The doll was done by his daughter. Let’s see if she can show me how to make a similar head for my Turk.

The rest of the body will not be a great challenge, I guess. A friend of mine could help me with the mechanism to make the Turk move the head, eyes, hands and arm.

My machine doesn’t need to move the pieces. I think it should move the arms in a way to suggest that he it is able to move the pieces using telepathy.

The question is of course how to make it move the hands in the right moment? I mean, short before it moves his pieces? This will be thought, and perhaps not realistic for such a simple project.

The easiest solution would be to use remote control for different movements, but even this is already not very realistic for my budget. Probably it will just make some erratic movements from time to time, I don’t know. Or does somebody have an idea?

I think the machine could be exposed in a big international tournament, like in Biel. It would be a great publicity for Square Off.

I just got my board this Saturday and couldn't be more excited. I'm loving it so far, but there is one bug that has ruined some games against the AI for me and wanted to know if this has happened to you. Sometimes it won't let me make a legal move. For example, the AI Knight attacked my Queen, but when I tried to move her to any square, the board would beep twice, and my Queen won't move in the app. She was not pinned so it was legal for me to move her, but it just wouldn't register. When I lost hope, I tried moving another piece, which worked, but of course, the AI took my Queen so I resigned. I even sent the game to the Analyze This app just to quadruple check that a Queen move was legal (I knew it was, I know the rules) and of course, the engine recommended move was a Queen move. Then in another game, it happened again that it wouldn't let me castle. Again I was sure that it was legal for me to castle and again I checked it with the Analyze app, which again recommended castling as the best move. The two cases happened after another minor bug in which I moved a piece, I got a double beep, but I saw in the app that the AI had moved even though nothing moved in the physical board, so I "manually updated" the board, a couple of more moves happened without incident, and then the bug I described above happened, so I don't know if the previous occurrence of me having to manually update the board is related. I saw no way to make the move I wanted so I end up resigning games which is very frustrating. Has this happened to you? Do you know a way around this?

Ups! In one game I had a similar problem, but in other games everything was fine.

Play some more games and check if this happens again and let us know.  You could also contact the support to see what they say.

I have been having the same issue. With not being able to move a piece exactly as you discribe with my grand kingdom.  The problems seem to have decreased in the last couple games. I gave the grandkigdom time to fully charge. Auto reset didn't initially work but it may be user error it wasn't mentioned what to do with a piece you capture I started pressing the piece down on the side panel corresponding to the piece and resetting worked flawlessly then on. I will update in a day or so. I have found to keep the piece evenly flat when pressing down works best unlike other manufactures you can use just an edge. I am not sure how to send a video as they requested I will wait for my son to come assist me with that

Dennis_Petersen

I will say I am really impressed with the beautiful housing. It is also much quieter than anything made in the 80s. The beep tone could be a bit louder it would be nice to hear a beep when pressing the from and to square my hearing is not registering any sound it would confirm the amount of pressure needed with out pressing to hard. The chess pieces exceeded my expectations although one boxwood knight is extremely darker than the rest. It would be nice if they would send a replacement but they didn't offer one at this point. I love it but hope the issues are cleared up with a software update or perhaps the newness of the parts will clear themselves up. It seem the more I use it things get better

I have seen this happen once so thought it was only a minor bug. I sent a message to my friend at the company. I am sure he will have his team investigate the issue and send out an update immediately.
