SquareOff (horrible)

What a waste of money. I got this as an XMAS gift in 2018 from my wife.

It was the worst really expensive gift I've ever received. And customer service was horrible.

Within a week I tried to return it because it didn't work well at all. Connection issues, slow move updates when playing opponents. Didn't connect well with Chess.com.

One of my emails: "The opponent is NOT making his move and I LOSE. My clock is stopped. He's on the clock and I can't make a move till he does and yet he doesn't and I lose. I have videos of it. Here are two games back to back I recorded. It happens all the time."

NO REFUND because the board was not damaged or defective -> is what they said. 

Apparently connection issues, slow move updates, connecting to Chess.com and losing on time after making a move but the app doesn't update the move isn't 'damaged or defective'.

It worked fine against it's AI. But that's not why I wanted to own this set. I wanted to play OTB with live players.

Rarely did it stay connected. Move updates were not fast. Connecting to Chess.com didn't make the games enjoyable... just a mess. And I basically threw the whole thing away  about a year ago after not playing it much at all since Christmas 2018 because the board mechanics didn't even move the pieces correctly anymore. 

Looking at the new ChessUp 2.0 board when it comes out.

But I'm just so disgusted with the money spent on SquareOff I just share this as a warning to you.
