I don't get the stalemate rule? I had 7 pieces still on the board, I was plus 22 up. they only had king, but then the game finished stating stalemate? I hadn't ran out if time

If your opponent had no legal moves, it's stalemate.

Stalemate is when the player who's turn it is has no legal moves and isn't in check. The result is a draw. The rule is hundreds of years old.

A great illustration of why greed is bad.  Just mate your opponent and dont try and keep grabbing material.

Maybe the rule is a 100 yr old. But its a bit of a [edited fo language - Mod.] one! Partly because my own inability to find checkmate easily and niavity understanding of the game.

but thanks for clarifying it, hopefully someone will fall foul of it when I'm getting a thrashing, tbh I'd rather them win than have them suffer a stalemate
