I meant 2-3 hours a day each day on weekend so maybe 6 hours on weekend.
starting out

Hi everyone. I started chess a few years ago but never got too far thinking I didn't have the time. My time situation is a little better now, maybe an hour a day, and 2-3 hours on weekend. All online. I have a question. Is play with the computer ok in relation to another player? I'm still weak novice and with the computer, I can quit when I know I'm way behind, why waste time when you can start another game and gain strength in opening is my thinking. With a human even online, I don't believe it would be polite to quit when behind. Any information good. I joined the premium a few days ago and so can use chess mentor and tactics.
Playing against a human is more fun in some ways of course. But there is one big benefit to playing against the computer in that you have to play solid and can't hope to win by some big blunder or cheap trick (as long as you're not playing against the shallowest levels).
Granted it can be frustrating losing to the computer all the time but if you don't play against the max levels you can eventually win even against the medium levels with solid positional play.
As far as quitting against a human there is no impoliteness to resigning a lost position. On the contrary if anything.
