Blocking doesn't stop them creating threads, posting or making inciteful remarks on other people's threads... it merely stops them doing it on mine. I see the same 'high profile' paying members get away with it time after time and ironically, it's often the same ones who constantly complain about 'trolls' on their very own threads.
I reckon it's about time members were allowed to police their own threads and maybe report other threads/posts/users with an 'up/down vote' and/or a 'report abuse' button. I figure it might be more of a deterrent, similar to a speed camera; where the very prescence of it will deter the majority of abusers.
Up/down votes just veers too much like a popularity contest. In every site I've seen such a scheme implement people invaribly become preoccupied with getting up votes or whining about getting down votes. As for absue, you can report it, though I'll grant that this site could make it easier to do so. Otherwise you can simply ignore posts you find objectable. You're never going to able to control what other people say, but you can control how you react to it.

Maybe, but if not implemented carefully, such a system can itself be abused.
Can't speak much to high profile users and potential abuse there but those instances can still be reported.

I wanted to see Erik's broadcast but was at the Hospital and couldn't get back to see it. Is there anyway to rewatch the video ???

Didn't somebody, ANYBODY save it to a flashdrive to help Riker?? He's a commander for God's sake!!
Send him a private viewing SHAUN.

Fixed.
Same error as a previous poster.
This is a private site which is justified in limiting speech. However, when the speech falls within the Terms of Service, whining and crying about content you don't like is somewhat childish.

Whatever...you know that you induldged in direct bigot slurs that you had to edit to avoid permanent banning.
Who's childish now???

I mean, why edit it?
If that's how you feel, stand by it, and don't be an editing wuss.
If you get muted or banned, take your lumps, and don't throw a colicky tantrum about it, Jamie.

You are mistaken. Learn to spell. You are off topic with your personal attacks.

I suggest you re-read the Terms of Service, and delete your posts.

Commander Riker has a point ERIK. This thread was started so that YOU, the Staff and Admins, can keep the members in the loop regarding the status of the progress. The thread was started 2 days before show time. Its not realistic to assume all 13 million members could drop everything just to catch Erik's debut. I'm asking you on behalf of all members who did NOT see it, to re-release it on site somehow, somewhere. The questions were asked on good faith. Why don't you show us good faith and re-run the episode please If you cannot do that then I'm afraid YOUR ALLIANCE WITH ELENIN STUDIOS HAS COME TO AN END. Awaiting your reply.
Did I just mute Erik?
As they say in "Fargo"; "Looks like the foot's on the other shoe ah"?

I used the words 'abusers' and 'inciteful'... as you recognised yourself from that... it pretty much rubber-stamps my original post. Please be relevent, helpful & nice!
Guess what? I don't mind being called childish... of all the things people could say about me, I can live with being called that because I can still be childish and well educated and opinionated and civil but do it with my thumb on the end of my nose ... wiggling my fingers at people like you!
...and even if I was old... I never want to give up my inner child... *stamps foot* EVER! So there!

I missed the whole show :(
Is there a link?
btw, NOT childish...
more like babyish, is a better word :)

I did not direct my post at you. There are dozens of persons here who fit the bill. Nor have I blocked you - I only block trolls and stalkers.
Of course I recognized the repeated personal attacks. It does not make them valid. But, you have a perfect right to your opinion.
Real communication is essential in problem-solving, be it running a website, in maintaining interpersonal relationships, or overcoming differences in opinions. That truism is lost on the trolls I have blocked.
